Our commitment to Namibia is reflected in where we choose to make a difference. Through focused partnerships, we aim to contribute in ways that are practical, relevant and capable of creating lasting value.

Our partnership with the Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia brings this commitment to life. By supporting community-led efforts towards dignified housing, we contribute to something that extends beyond the structures themselves: Greater security, stability and opportunity for Namibian families.

It is an approach grounded in partnership: working alongside those who understand their communities, and supporting solutions shaped by the people they are intended to serve.

Our Corporate Social Investment Program

Over the years, Ohorongo Cement’s Corporate Social Investment Program (CSIP) has contributed to communities across Namibia through partnerships with government, organisations and community stakeholders. These initiatives form an important part of our history and reflect a longstanding commitment to contributing beyond our core business.

As our approach has evolved, our social investment has become more focused. Today, our primary commitment is our partnership with the Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia, supporting community-led efforts to improve access to dignified housing.

Our past projects remain part of the Ohorongo story and demonstrate how our contribution to Namibia has developed over time.

OUR PARTNERSHIPS IN ACTION

Our approach to social investment is centred on purposeful partnerships that respond to practical needs. Our long-standing partnership with the Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia remains at the heart of this commitment, supporting community-led efforts towards access to dignified housing.

Alongside this partnership, we occasionally collaborate with suppliers and industry partners on targeted initiatives, including practical brickmaking workshops that help participants develop skills they can put to use within their communities and livelihoods.

These partnerships allow us to contribute in ways that are closely connected to what we know best: Building materials, practical skills and the communities they can help shape.

Community-Driven Low-Income Houses
Building Futures - Recognizing that shelter is a fundamental human need, we've partnered with Pupkewitz Foundation and First National Bank - Namibia Holdings Foundation Trust to support poverty eradication and provide low-income households with community-driven houses.
Practical Skills, Shared Knowledge.
In collaboration with our suppliers and industry partners, Ohorongo Cement occasionally hosts practical brickmaking workshops designed to share knowledge and develop hands-on skills. Participants gain practical exposure to brickmaking techniques and the effective use of cement, providing skills that can support income-generating opportunities and community-level building activities.
Our Impact Over The Years
Our partnership with the Ministry of Education focuses on providing essential construction materials, including cement, for the development of additional classrooms, ablution facilities, cooking facilities, and renovations at educational institutions across the country.

We've joined hands with Support Ulm e.V. to provide essential medical equipment to the Ministry of Health and Social Services, ensuring quality healthcare in public health facilities.

SUPPORTING HEALTHCARE THROUGH PARTNERSHIP

As part of Ohorongo Cement’s broader Corporate Social Investment journey, our collaboration with Support Ulm e.V. enabled us to contribute to healthcare initiatives across Namibia through the provision of medical equipment and other practical support.

Through a Technical Co-operation Agreement, the partnership supported a range of initiatives, including the renovation of health clinics, the construction of children’s sleeping quarters, the provision of medical equipment and the donation of an ambulance to a local clinic. Support was also extended to people with albinism through the provision of essential sun protection products.

Working alongside Support Ulm e.V. enabled medical equipment and resources to reach both public and private healthcare institutions in Namibia. The contribution made through this partnership remains an important part of Ohorongo Cement’s Corporate Social Investment history and the impact achieved together with our partners.
