CORPORATE CITIZENSHIP:

SOCIAL INVESTMENT PROGRAM

Supporting Namibia’s Progress

Caring for Our People

At Ohorongo Cement, our commitment to the Namibian people is deeply rooted in our corporate culture. We’ve made it our mission to give back to the communities we serve, focusing on sectors like Health, Education, and Infrastructure Development. This commitment reflects our belief in the power of corporate social responsibility and our dedication to contributing to Namibia’s growth and development.

Our Corporate Social Investment Program

Over the years, our corporate social investment program (CSIP) has significantly contributed to community development, forging partnerships with government agencies and various institutions. We prioritize projects with a clear focus on uplifting communities, and we budget for these initiatives well in advance.

During our years of giving back, we’ve successfully garnered support from local and national businesses, non-profit organizations, and private individuals who share our vision for a better Namibia.

Current Projects in Progress

With limestone resources to sustain us for the next three hundred years, we’re committed to driving socio-economic development and prosperity for all Namibians. Although this is a long-term goal, each completed project brings us closer to realizing it. Here are some of the projects currently underway:

Community-Driven Low-Income Houses
Building Futures - Recognizing that shelter is a fundamental human need, we've partnered with Pupkewitz Foundation and First National Bank - Namibia Holdings Foundation Trust to support poverty eradication and provide low-income households with community-driven houses.
Ohorongo Build It Brickmaking Academy
Our commitment to poverty eradication led us to establish this academy in partnership with Built It. It offers brickmaking training to unemployed individuals and those seeking to enhance their skills. The goal is to create at least 600 jobs through this initiative, empowering individuals to sustain their livelihoods and contribute to poverty alleviation.
We Are Friends of Education
Our partnership with the Ministry of Education focuses on providing essential construction materials, including cement, for the development of additional classrooms, ablution facilities, cooking facilities, and renovations at educational institutions across the country.
Health for All
We've joined hands with Support Ulm e.V. to provide essential medical equipment to the Ministry of Health and Social Services, ensuring quality healthcare in public health facilities.

We recognize that supporting the public health sector cannot be the sole responsibility of the government. Our collaboration with Support Ulm e.V. has allowed us to make a meaningful contribution to the health sector. This partnership is based on a Technical Co-operation Agreement, which focuses on improving public health infrastructure and services in Namibia through the provision of medical equipment.

Our partnership with Support Ulm e.V. has allowed for the renovation of health clinics, the construction of children’s sleeping quarters, the provision of medical equipment, and the donation of an ambulance to a local clinic. We’ve also been able to support individuals affected by albinism by providing essential sun protection.

Support Ulm e.V. continues to be a valuable partner in sourcing and providing medical equipment, benefiting both government and private medical institutions. Their generous support has had a lasting impact on the Namibian population.

At Ohorongo Cement, we remain committed to caring for the Namibian people, believing in the positive change that comes when we give back to our communities.
