JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Accountant and Senior Accounting Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for the accurate and timeous processing of supplier and customer accounts, verification of logistic invoices, and ensuring compliance with internal control procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Verify and process supplier invoices accurately and on time.
- Ensure supplier payments are made according to predetermined terms and internal controls.
- Monitor and maintain the freight clearing account, attending to rate variances.
- Professionally manage customer accounts, including matching receipts and processing invoices.
- Generate and send customer statements; assist with queries and payment clearing.
- Assist creditor clerks with reconciliations and vendor account maintenance.
- Maintain efficient and updated filing systems, ensuring records are archived when required.
- Support month-end and year-end processes, including audit preparation.
- Assist Accountant and Senior Accounting Officer with ad-hoc administrative duties.
- Ensure correct application of VAT codes.
- Comply with health, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Maintain professional communication with colleagues, suppliers, and customers.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 plus Accounting Certificate or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in debtors and creditors processing.
- Experience with SAP in a finance department will be advantageous.
- Intermediate computer literacy (Excel and Word).
- Fluency in English.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, organize workload, and meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrate sound work ethics and initiative in problem-solving.
