JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Executive: Plant Operations will be responsible for developing and maintaining plant performance standards, optimizing asset value, and ensuring operational excellence at the Sargberg Plant.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and regularly review the Company’s Health and Safety Management System. Ensure effective communication and administrative processes are in place, and continuously promote health and safety awareness and performance within the team.
- Ensure full compliance with all legal requirements under the Health and Safety Regulations, Mining Act, and related ordinances.
- Develop, implement, and routinely review Company policies and rules related to the health and safety of employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Oversee production activities to ensure minimal environmental impact. Monitor, control, and report emissions to air, ground, and water in line with regulatory requirements.
- Define objectives and targets for the Plant, plan resources and tasks accordingly, and ensure alignment with the Company’s overall KPIs and strategic goals.
- Coordinate activities across departments including Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), Quality Assurance, Production, Maintenance, and Projects to achieve the Cement Plant’s operational objectives.
- Guide and review monthly and annual production and maintenance plans. Oversee plant and cost center budgets, and manage operational input costs effectively.
- Identify plant equipment investment needs, prepare budgets, and ensure execution of related projects. Provide direction to the Project Engineer on project priorities and resource allocation.
- Continuously monitor, control, and optimize key plant cost drivers and efficiencies, including raw material usage, fuel consumption, alternative fuel rates, electricity usage and costs, spare parts, and overtime.
- Implement Company strategy as communicated by the Chief Executive Officer or Board of Directors, ensuring effective execution at the Plant level.
- Review individual employee performance, provide guidance, and take corrective steps where necessary. In collaboration with the HR Department, address employee concerns and foster a positive working environment and team culture.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or Process Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the cement production industry, with a proven track record in senior management roles.
- Strong background in technical operations, process optimization, and project management.
- Ability to analyze and resolve technical problems in line with company policy and industrial strategy, across areas including Production, Maintenance, Product Quality, Environmental Management, Project Management, and Human Resources.
- Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning and financial management.
- High level of intercultural intelligence and ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
- Fluency in Business English is essential.
- Valid Code B driver’s license.
