Taking care of the community that Ohorongo Cement lives & works in, is of utmost importance to the company, hence this donation of hospital beds to the Otjiwarongo Community.
The donation of hospital beds through the Ohorongo Otavi Community Trust (OOCT) in collaboration with Support e.V., Ulm, Germany, was handed over to Altersheim Elkin-Delk Otjiwarongo, Otjiwarongo State Hospital and Tsumeb Private Hospital on Wednesday, 18 February 2015.
The value of the donation is in excess of N$ 72 000,00 with the aim to assist the Ministry of Health with comprehensive healthcare to the people of Namibia.
Support e.V is a non-profit organisation based in the German town Ulm. It was found by a group of medical doctors, who made it their aim to support medical projects in the developing world through financial and humanitarian means as well as through donations.
The word âSUPPORTâ is the abbreviation for the groupâs rationale: Sofortige Und Praktische Problemlösung vor Ort, in English meaning âimmediate and practical problem solving on siteâ.
OOCT as a Trust focuses on three main pillars: Infrastructure / Education & Healthcare.
From humble beginnings to date the total amount already invested into the Namibian community on various projects is in excess of N$ 6.5 million.
âThe OOCT and Support e.V would like to thank the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Trade & Industry, the Ministry of Finance and the various private healthcare institutions for the good relationships in the past, and we are looking forward to further build on these relationships,â said Rudolf Coetzee, Administration Manger of Ohorongo Cement.
âOnly with Public-Private-Partnerships (PPP) we can work together towards reaching the bigger healthcare goal,â said Coetzee.
It is a well-known fact that Namibia faces many challenges in delivering quality health services to the community, with main constraints amongst a few being inadequate medical equipment and supplies.
Hence the donation of 47 hospital beds to be divided between the various institutions mentioned earlier.
From humble beginnings, OOCT is looking forward to continuously strive to make a positive change to its Namibian community through the support of its various stakeholders.
