LOCATION: Walvis Bay
The expansion project was completed in 2019. It incorporated an additional 40 hectares of land and increased the quay length of 1500m with an additional 600m.
The new container terminal accommodates a capacity of 650 000 TEU per annum and will complement the existing 350 000 TEUs per annum.
The financial investment also includeded the acquisition of up-to-date equipment for the purpose of efficient container handling resulting in the increase in quay cranes and rubber-tyred gantry cranes.
It’s deep water depth of 16 m accommodates 5000 TEU vessels, and enables large vessels to enter the port of Walvis Bay.
117 779 Tons of Ohorongo Cement was used to complete this project.
