A total of 120 wheelchairs were donated by the OhorongoOtavi Community Trust to the Tsumeb Hospital. The Trust received the donation from Sanimed, a manufacturer of specialised medical equipment, and SUPPORT e.V. Transport and shipment from Walvis Bay to Tsumeb was organised and financed by Manica Logistics in partnership with Wesbank Transport.

The donation of the wheelchairs was made on the condition that the private hospital would distribute the chairs to all those in need. Moreover, no financial gain was to be drawn from the donation.

The hospital management of the Tsumeb Hospital gladly accepted the donation and the administrative task to hand out the wheelchairs to those in need. A committee was established to administrate the handing over of the wheelchairs. The committee sent the message of the availability of wheelchairs to old age homes, other hospitals in the region as well as other institutions.

For those that have received a wheelchair, life has changed forever. One of the recipients,Mrs Erika Kubesaged 81 years, did not have any means to move around besides by pulling herself forward with her hands. With her new wheelchair, she can move freely around her house and garden. Emma, a young mother of a severely disabled child can now take her son with to work or if she needs to go to town. Before receiving a wheelchair she had to carry the already heavy child on her hip over long distances.
