The non-governmental organisation Support e.V. celebrated its 5th anniversary in Ulm, Germany on the 15th October 2012. Support e.V. was found by a group of Ulm citizens, with the aim of lending medical support to people in third world countries. The ultimate goal of Support e.V. however is, helping people to help themselves. Two cheques with a combined value of 14 000.00 Euro was handed to the Trust at this occasion.
Following discussions between delegates from Support e.V., the local health minstry, the GTZ and the Ambassador of Germany in Namibia, Mr Egon Kochanke in April 2009, renovations to the Otvai Health Clinic and the Children’s playground were completed in March 2010. The Ohorongo Community Trust (OOCT) plays a vital role in identifying projects in need of assistance. Additional medical equipment to the value of N$ 2.3 million was handed to the Otvai Health Clinic in April 2010 in the form of specialised hospital equipment. Furthermore an agreement was signed between the Ministry of Health and Social Services, the Ohorongo Otavi Community Trust and Support e.V. on 24 March this year. This agreement is seen as a milestone between private establishments and the two countries Germany and Namibia. To date an amount in excess of N$3.494 million have been generated towards medical assistance in Namibia. This includes a consignment of wheelchairs received in October this year.
